Happy Thanksgiving to you!

This will by my first Thanksgiving where I will not be asking for another heaping spoonful of mashed potatoes along with some more turkey. This will be my first Thanksgiving where I will not be consumed by the indulgences and addictions of food, especially holiday feasting. This will be my first raw-vegan and purely health focused Thanksgiving.

I will be enjoying the company of my family as much as I have been enjoying this short vacation to the beach for the holiday. My meals will be replicas of those eaten yesterday (Wednesday) and the days before that. Their meals will be replicas of the meals they eat everyday, just with increased portion sizes, more variety, and the beloved holiday desserts.

I enjoy this holiday because it brings family together and many blindly believe they enjoy it primarily because of the food. Food is often thought to be the reason why we come together on these special occasions, but is it really? In reality, food is the rational that brings the closely related closer. Closer together, closer to…

It is your lifestyle and only you can choose where it brings you and what you become closer to. You can become closer to family, friends, food, death, or maybe even life. As much as we enjoy Thanksgiving, we cannot look past the tantalizing evidence that certain lifestyle choices restrict and lead down an all too commonly travelled path.

Due to my lifestyle choices, I am often termed as too restrictive and as lacking in the joys column in life. I seek longevity. I seek to enjoy the many joys of life for as long as I possibly can. I seek something that we can all grasp easily, if truly desired, and sustain.

Choose to live or choose to restrict living, that is my challenge to you. Don’t wait for something to become in vogue before it is truly considered ill-natured and a danger to life. Become educated and learn to separate yourself from these overpowering addictions and cravings. Live life as if you love life, protect it, cherish it, and make it last.

Enjoy your holidays regardless of what you eat. Happy Thanksgiving! LIVE longer we will!
